Crystal Lynn Baker, who was known as “Jersey,” was 24 years old when she was murdered. Her body was found in a wooded area in Durham, North Carolina, more than a decade ago, and the person responsible for her death has yet to be brought to justice.
On the afternoon of Jan. 22, 2010, officers with the Durham Police Department were searching a wooded area near Chandler Road and Ross Road for a burglary suspect when they stumbled upon the body of a woman, who was only clad in socks, according to WRAL.
About a week later, the decedent was identified as Crystal Baker, who was originally from Salisbury, Maryland. Officials stated that she was last seen alive within the vicinity of the Budget Inn on Holloway Street.
According to an autopsy report cited by ABC 11 Eyewitness News, Baker died after she was beaten and stabbed 36 times.
Baker was stabbed 21 times in her face, eight times in her back, three times in her abdomen, once in the neck, both thighs, and her right buttock, the medical examiner determined.
Investigators worked diligently to find Baker’s killer, but ultimately, her case turned cold.
